ComicMe turns photographs you upload into a personalized comic book. This page explains what we collect, who it is shared with, and how long we keep it. We have tried to write it plainly rather than defensively.
What we collect
Photographs you upload. These are the images of the person the comic is about. Details you type in — names, relationships, personality traits and the personal details you want woven into the story. Order and contact information — your email address, a phone number if you choose to give one, and when you order, your shipping address. Payment details are never seen by us: card data goes directly to Stripe and does not pass through our servers.
Who your photographs are shared with
Making the comic requires sending your photographs and details to third-party AI services. There is no way to produce the product without this, so you should know exactly who they are:
- OpenAI — draws the artwork from the photograph you upload.
- Anthropic — writes the title and story from the details you type. It does not receive your photographs.
- Our print and delivery service (such as Lulu) — receives the finished book files and your shipping address, so the book can be printed and posted to you.
- Resend — delivers the emails we send you, so it receives your email address.
- Stripe — processes payment and holds your billing details.
- Vercel — hosts the site and stores your files.
A person on our team also sees your photographs and details, because every book is checked by hand before it is printed.
We do not sell your photographs or your personal information, and we do not use them for advertising.
Emails and cookies
We email you when your free cover is ready and about any order you place. If you give a phone number, we may use it to contact you about your comic.
The site sets one cookie, which remembers the sale price and time limit shown to you so that it stays the same as you move between pages. Our visitor statistics do not use cookies and do not identify you.
We advertise on Facebook and Instagram. To see which ads work, the site uses Meta's pixel, which sets cookies and tells Meta when you view the site, make a free preview, start checkout or buy. Meta may combine this with what it knows about your Facebook or Instagram account. You can control ad tracking in your Facebook and Instagram ad settings.
How long we keep things
Your photographs, your comic cover and your order details are stored so that you can come back to your comic and so that we can make and deliver your book. You can ask us to delete any of it at any time by emailing us, and we will do so unless we are required to keep a record of the transaction for tax or accounting purposes.
Children
Comics are often made about children. If you upload a photograph of a child, you confirm you are their parent or guardian, or have that person's permission. The site itself is not intended for use by children, and we do not knowingly collect information directly from them.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA. Email us and we will help.
